September 28, 2023 - PARRA Fall Luncheon with Guest Speaker Dr. Atul Butte
Dr. Atul Butte, the Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg Distinguished Professor and inaugural Director of the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute (bchsi.ucsf.edu) at UCSF and the Chief Data Scientist for the entire University of California Health System gave an informative talk on artificial intelligence in precision medicine and what we have learned in our new data-driven era of medicine. The Berkeley City Club in the historic Julia Morgan-designed hotel was the setting for our luncheon.
April 20, 2023 - PARRA Luncheon with Guest Speaker Erwin Chemerinsky
There was a great turnout to hear the excellent, if sobering, talk on the Supreme Court by Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky. The beautiful weather and locale (the Berkeley Country Club in the El Cerrito hills) made for a memorable day.
March 29, 2023 - Food Bank Volunteer Event
Our March 29th volunteer event at the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano was at the Concord warehouse, and was a chance to see our fellow retirees and do some good for the community. We sorted and packed apples and pears and heard about how much the food bank does in the two counties. Lots of conversation about planned trips, past trips and who was planning to attend the upcoming luncheon. The volunteer event was easy to get to from Berkeley and ended in time to beat the traffic.
