Emerita Mary Ann Mason appointed to Edward A. Dickson Emeriti Professorship
In recognition of her continuing scholarly achievements, Mary Ann Mason has been appointed to the Dickson Emeriti Professorship for a one year term effective July 1, 2017. The appointment comes with funds to support post-retirement research activities.
In recognition of her continuing scholarly achievements, Mary Ann Mason has been appointed to the Dickson Emeriti Professorship for a one year term effective July 1, 2017. The appointment comes with funds to support post-retirement research activities.
Edward A. Dickson served as a Regent of the University of California from 1913 to 1946, the longest tenure of any Regent. In 1955, Mr. Dickson presented the University with a gift endowment which enables each campus to make an annual $10,000 award recognizing teaching, research, or public service by one or more emeritus/a professors, or a salary stipend for emeriti professors on recall.

Professor David Chandler, pillar of the physical chemistry scientific community and Professor
Emeritus of Chemistry, died April 18, 2017 at the age of 72 at his home in Berkeley, after a valiant twenty-year battle with prostate cancer. Spanning a career that changed the course of the field of physical chemistry, not just once but several times, he is credited with crafting the modern language and concepts for describing structure and dynamics of condensed matter, especially complex systems with disorder and heterogeneity, such as liquids, glasses and biological assemblies.
